Looking back at photos of my favorite illustrations from 1938-1954, I have discovered I am a sucker for illustrations of cats and snow scenes.

Favorite 1954 illustration:
The end pages of Green Eyes
Favorite 1954 line:
"Oh it's right in the middle --
Oh it's ret in the meedle --
Oh it's root in the moodle of my head head head."

  1. I haven't read Green Eyes, yet, but I've seen it . . . Interestingly, the style of the illustrations led me to think it was a much more contemporary book. More of graphic arts style to it, maybe? How does the text feel? More dated?

    1. Yes - love the illustrations. The story didn't feel horribly dated, it was a simple companion to some really great illustrations.
